Women's Soccer blanked at Elms 5-0

Chicopee, Mass- Elms College had 5 different players score including three in the first half reroute to a 5-0 rout over MCLA Saturday afternoon in the non-conference women's soccer game.

With the win, Elms improves to 1-3 overall, while MCLA falls to 0-4-1 overall in the season.

The Blazers kicked things off quickly in the first half when Rachel Connell (Easthampton, Ma) sent a hard shot that was deflected by the Trailblazers goalie Katy Daly (South Cairo, NY), and Angelina Estrada (Springfield, Ma) put the ball in the back of the net to go up 1-0.

 Elms then put two more goal past Daly in a two minute span later in the first half when Connell gathered a rebound from Erica Van Ness's(Agawam, Ma) booming shot and put it away to go up 2-0. Just two minutes later Jackie Soucia (Belchertown, Ma) received a touch pass from Michelle Rossignol (Manchester, CT) and sent a rainbow shot into the top left corner to get to a commanding lead of 3-0.

The start to the second half featured good defense and some back and forth action. It was not until the 68:38 mark that Kylen O'Hearn (Somers, CT) received a perfect cross from Soucia from across the field to put it past Daly on the left side.

Elms' junior defender Lyndsey Oppenheimer (Easthampton, Ma) finished off the scoring after receiving a great pass from Lexi Vieria (Warren, RI), to set her up for her first goal of the season.

The Blazers outshot the Trailerblazers 22-5 and also topped them in corner kicks 6-1

Daly recorded 7 saves for the match, while junior goalkeeper Alexa Rinaudo (Bellmore, NY) recorded 2 saves in the winning effort.

Elms returns to non-conference play Wednesday September. 17 when they travel to Northampton to face Smith College.
