Trailblazers fall to Skidmore 1-0 in non conference action

North Adams, MA- The visiting Skidmore Women's Soccer used a penalty kick goal in the first half to earn a 1-0 win over the MCLA Trailblazers this afternoon at Shewcraft Field.   With the win, the Thoroughbreds even their mark at 1-1, while MCLA sports the same record.

Skidmore controlled the play for day outshooting MCLA 28-3.  MCLA's Katy Daly kept the Trailblazers in the contest stopping 9 shots on the day.

While Skidmore was controlling play, they couldn't get the ball past Daly.  They had a golden opportunity in the 25th minute to break thru, but a Trailblazer defender knocked the ball away.  The Thoroughbreds would eventually catch a break in the 32nd minute when a player was taken down in the box resulting in a penalty kick. 

Skidmore's Emily Saliterman took the kick and went to the upper right corner making it 1-0.  The Thoroughbreds had plenty of opportunities to tack on more but couldn't get the extra cushion.  The scored remained that way until halftime.  Skidmore outshot MCLA 16-1 in the half.

Saliterman, Arena Manning and Shelby Hannon led the Skidmore offensive attack combining for 14 shots.

Alexi Anderson and Courtney Hayer were solid on defense for the Trailblazers in defeat.

Dee Walsh earned the win in goal for Skidmore recording one save. Daly took the loss for MCLA, both keepers are 1-1 on the season.

Skidmore will be off till September 12th when they take on SUNY- New Paltz. The Trailblazers will next be in action on Tuesday September 8th hosting Elms at 4:30 PM.
