Women's Soccer falls 1-0 to Nichols

North Adams, MA- Nichols College's Lauren MacGray scored the lone goal in the 75th minute to lift the visiting Bison to a 1-0 victory over the MCLA Trailblazers this evening at Shewcraft Field.  With the win, the Bison improve to 5-10-1 on the season.

MCLA falls to 3-11 on the season.

Neither team could generate much offense on a blustery night at Shewcraft Field.  Nichols would finally break through off a corner kick in the 75th minute to prevail.  Bison forward Deandra Flynn lofted a high ball towards the back post that found MacGray.  She calmly headed it past MCLA keeper Megan Richardson for the game winning goal.  The marker was her 2nd of the season.

MCLA couldn't muster up any quality chances in the game's final minutes giving Nichols the win.

Earlier in the contest, both teams had chances.  Nichols missed an open net on two occasions, one in each half but each shot went wide.  For MCLA, Caitlin Maloney ripped a shot the just went over the crossbar that would've given MCLA the lead.

Nichols would outshoot MCLA 10-7 in the contest and held a 9-3 edge in corners.

Brooke Downey earned her fifth win of the season between the pipes stopping three shots on the night.  Richardson also collected three saves for MCLA.

The Trailblazers are back in action on Saturday when they close out the regular season on the road at Bridgewater State.
