Women's Soccer earns Gold award for Ethics and Sportsmanship from United Soccer Coaches
2017 United Soccer Coaches Ethics and Sportsmanship Awards
North Adams, MA- For the fifteenth time under the leadership of head coach Deb Raber, the MCLA Women's Soccer program was recognized by the United Soccer Coaches Association with the Ethics and Sportsmanship award. Teams are eligible for Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze award from the organization. In 2017, the Trailblazers earned the "Gold" award after snagging the silver last season.
The Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award was created to recognize teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior, and adherence to the laws of the game.
A team may not have received any (0) Red Cards at any time during the season. The "season" includes all regular season and play-off contests.
Platinum Award: 0 Yellow Cards, 0 Red Cards
Gold Award: 1-10%
Silver Award: 11-30%
Bronze Award: 31-50%
The percentage formula is the number of cards accumulated divided by the number of games played (i.e., 5 cards divided by 20 games played is 0.25 or 25%, which qualifies for a Silver Award).
The honor for the program is no stranger to MCLA. The Trailblazers have earned 15 ethics honors during Raber's tenure. MCLA was the only school recognized within the MASCAC as either a platinum or gold recipient.
Raber led the Trailblazers back into the MASCAC playoffs but ultimately they fell in the quarterfinal round to Salem State ending their season.
