Women's Soccer can't generate any offense in 1-0 loss to Sage

Albany, NY- Sage's Lydia Malkiewicz scored the games only goal in the 52nd minute to lift the Gators women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over the MCLA Trailblazers this evening in non league action.  Sage improves to 3-1 on the season while MCLA is still in search of their first win as they're 0-3.

The opening half of play saw Sage pepper MCLA keeper Megan Richardson with shots as the hosts held a commanding 18-1 advantage over the first 45 minutes, however the game remained scoreless.

In the second half, Sage finally broke through in the 52nd minute.  Malkiewicz would loft a high shot into the left corner for her third goal of the season and give Sage a 1-0 lead.  MCLA got a few shots off early in the half, but were shut down for the remainder of the contest.

Over the final 30 minutes of play, MCLA managed just one shot.

Sage's Kallan Shertzer notched the shutout victory as she made four stops in net.

The Gators ended with a 30-4 edge in shots and an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

MCLA's Richardson collected 14 saves in defeat.

The Trailblazers host Castleton on Wednesday evening at Shewcraft Field.
