Richardson repeats as MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year

North Adams, MA- For the second straight season, MCLA senior Megan Richardson (Adams, MA) has been tabbed as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletics Conference (MASCAC) defensive player of the year.  The league announced their annual postseason awards this morning.  Richardson has been an All Conference team member all four of her years at MCLA.

Westfield State's Lydia Kinsman has been selected as the conference's offensive player of the year.  Salem State's Nicolle Wood was chosen as the coach of the year while her first year performer Madison Pesce took home the conference's rookie of the year honor.

Richardson earned her honor after leading the league in total saves with 186 while collecting a .816 save percentage, 2.56 goals against average with two wins and a shutout for the Trailblazers. In nine of her 17 games played this season, she registered double digits saves, including 21 against Salem State.

Richardson was under siege for most of the season as she saw an astounding 458 shots during her senior season.  She ranks second all time at MCLA with 596 career saves and has been a leader since her arrival on campus.  Richardson was a captain for the majority of her career in a Trailblazer uniform.

Richardson ended her career on a high note earning a shutout victory against Framingham State on Senior Day.

Joining Richardson on the All Conference team from MCLA was Cetera Moore.  Moore collected second team All MASCAC honors for the second consecutive season in the midfield.
