North Adams, Mass.—A stingy Lancer's defense kept the Trailblazers on their heels, jumping out to a 4-0 halftime lead. In the second half, the Lancers continued to pressure the Trailblazers' defense, keeping the ball on the MCLA defensive end for the majority of the half en route to a 5-0 victory.

THE BASICS:

  • Date: Friday, October 6, 2023
  • Score: Worcester State 5, MCLA 0
  • Records: Worcester State Lancers 2-5-2 (Conference 2-2-0) | MCLA Trailblazers 2-6-2 (MASCAC 0-4-0)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Freshman goalkeeper Eva Eberwein reached double digits in saves for the fifth time this season, stopping 11 shots on goal.
  • Erin Condon scored the game's first goal in the 14th minute when Jess Forbes lofted a ball over the Trailblazers' rear guard that Condon caught up to just inside the penalty area and, on the second bounce, fired a shot over the out-reached arms of Eberwein and just below the crossbar.
  • As the clock wound down to under 10 minutes left in the first half, the Lancers doubled their lead when Erin Condon threaded a pass between multiple Trailblazer defenders as she was falling to the ground. Her pass was then caught up to by Raelyn Callahan, who tapped the ball past Eberwein, who got caught in the middle of leaving her line to confront Callahan or staying back to await the shot.
  • Condon was also credited with the assist on the Lancers' third goal about three minutes later as Ava Lemanski took a centering pass from Condon just inside the six-yard box and tapped the ball into a wide-open net.
  • The first half's final goal also came off the foot of Lemanski when she made the most of a muffed catch by Eberwein, taking a shot from about 10 yards out directly in front of the open net.
  • Amanda Cosco scored what would be the final Lancers' goal in the 74th minute, scoring on a penalty shot into the lower left corner of the goal.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
