Women’s Soccer Cruise Past Bobcats

Albany, New York—The Trailblazers scored three first-half goals, and the goaltending combination of Eva Eberwein and Em Marlay-Wright kept the sheet clean in a 3-0 non-conference victory.

THE BASICS:

  • Date: Monday, October 9, 2023
  • Score: MCLA 3, Bryant & Stratton 0
  • Records: MCLA Trailblazers 3-6-2 (MASCAC 0-4-0) | Bryant & Stratton Bobcats 0-3-0 (Conference N/A)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Trailblazers opened the scoring early when Alyssa Porter scored her first goal of the season in the 5th minute of the game. After blocking an attempted clear by a Bobcats' defender, Porter quickly bounced on a scoring opportunity about 10 yards out on the right side of the goal and sent a line drive kick over the goalkeeper into the upper right corner of the goal.
  • The Bobcats' issues with clears continued when Gwendolyn Duggan made the Bobcats pay for a dangerous effort to clear the ball while inside their own penalty area in the 20th minute. Camryn Belisle dribbled into the center of the box and fired off a shot that a Bobcat defender blocked; the defender then attempted to boot the ball downfield but instead kicked the ball directly to Duggan, who out-battled a Bobcat fender for control of the ball. Duggan settled the ball and connected on a shot from just inside the box into the back of the net. The goal was the freshman's second of the season, following her strike against SUNY Cobleskill on September 12th.
  • For their third goal of the game, the Trailblazers relied upon teamwork and cooperation to score again in the 23rd minute. Tia Kareh brought the ball across midfield and made a forward pass to Cidnee Frymire, who made a quick touch pass to Eva Bassallo, who remained onsides just long enough to receive the pass and streaked towards the net to fire off a shot from about 8 yards out, burying the ball in the lower left corner, past a diving goalie.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
