Women’s Soccer falls to Wentworth in Non-Conference Meeting

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.—The MCLA Women's Soccer team welcomed Wentworth Institute of Technology to Shewcraft Field this evening for a non-conference matchup. The Leopards got a pair of goals from each of Lina Arlander and Jenny Montville to go with single tallies from four others to leave with an 8-0 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wentworth opened the scoring early in the first half, Lina Arlander converted on a rebound off the far post to give the Leopards a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute.
- In the 25th minute, Madelyn Seder doubled the WIT lead, with Brianna Reid picking up the assist. Eight minutes later, Lily Carlson would knock home another rebound off a post to increase the lead to 3-0.
- The Leopards scored a flurry of goals in the closing minutes of the first half. First, Rachel Hagerty (41:56, assisted by Brianna Reid) scored and was promptly followed up with unassisted goals by Jenny Montville (41:56) and Kayla Heister (44:38), and it was 6-0 heading to halftime.
- Wentworth would add two goals in the second half, with Arlander (63rd minute, assisted by Elsa Homer) and Montville each picking up her second of the game.
- The Leopards held a decisive 51-5 shot advantage in the game, including a 25-3 mark on goal.
- Shyla Kulesza picked up the win for WIT without making a stop before giving way to Claire Reif at halftime, who successfully converted on the Trailblazers' three shots on net. Mallory Amirian (Haverhill, MA) did collect 16 saves in defeat for the Trailblazers but absorbed the loss to fall to 0-2-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The 16-save effort from Amirian was the most by an MCLA keeper since Jillian Currier stopped 20 shots in the 2022 season finale against Bridgewater State.

On Saturday, MCLA will be back in action when they travel to SUNY Poly for a non-conference matchup with the Wildcats at Wildcat Field. The teams will take the pitch for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
