MCLA defeats St. Joe's in Women's Tennis

MCLA Tennis defeats St. Joseph's (CT):

North Adams, MA- The MCLA women's tennis team notched their first victory of the season this afternoon at the Zavattaro Athletic Complext defeating St. Joseph's (CT) by a score of 7-2.  With the win MCLA improves to 1-6, while St. Joe's falls to 4-7.

MCLA was led by senior Kristen Banks (Norton, MA) who won a three set singles match (3-6, 6-0, 7-5) while teaming with sophomore Carrie Richards (Ludlow, MA) for a 8-4 pro style doubles victory.  Richards also earned a singles victory by defeating Kameesha Cooper in straight sets (6-1, 6-1).  MCLA Freshman Emily Minns also earned two points on the day, winning her singles match against Sheera Midford in straight sets, while earning a hard fought doubles victory with Jessica Guay (8-5). 

The Trailblazers also received points from Laura Laureano (Lawrence, MA) and Katherine Marchand (Quincy, MA) at number four and five singles respectively,  MCLA is back in action on Thursday when they host Western New England at 3:00pm.
