Tennis swept by Worcester State 9-0
North Adams, MA- The visiting Worcester State Lancers defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 9-0 this afternoon in women's tennis action at Zavattaro Athletics complex. The Lancers evened their mark at 4-4, while MCLA drops to 0-4 overall.
Danielle Candelieri, Megan Shepard, Brooke Michanczyk, Laura Sarkis, and Cassandra Goncalves all earned a pair of points for Worcester State.
Candelieri was challenged in the top singles match against MCLA's Sarah Murphy, but eventually won the opener 7-5 before breezing 6-1 in the closing set. Sarkis dropped only one game all day, winning her singles match 6-1, 6-0 before teaming with Michanczyk to win 8-0 in doubles.
Page Hirons and Paige Moriarty also earned a point apiece, as Hirons won at number six singles, while Moriarty earned a point in the third doubles slot.
MCLA returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to St. Joseph (CT).
