MCLA places three singles, two doubles pairings on All NAC Women's Tennis team

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Trailblazers women's tennis program was well represented on the All North Atlantic Conference (NAC) teams released this morning.  Senior Sarah Murphy and a pair of freshmen, Sarah Mikutowicz and Mariza Sfakianaki, were named all NAC singles players. The pairing of Mikutowicz and Murphy, along with Sfakianaki and Emily Deaso were named to the doubles teams.

Colby Sawyer's Ashlyn Ramsay and Ashley Woodside were honored as the conference's player and rookie of the year respectively, while Green Mountain and Lyndon State shared the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Murphy was tabbed a first team selection in singles after posting an 8-5 overall mark, including an impressive 5-1 run in the conference.  She primarily played out of the second slot, however did see time as the number one player.  She excelled at the second slot going 8-3.

Mikutowicz and Sfakianaki both earned second team All NAC honors following a strong freshmen campaign.  Mikutowicz played primarily in the top spot for MCLA, carrying a record of 6-7 on the season, with five wins out of that one hole.  Sfakianaki went 9-4 in her inaugural campaign and was 5-1 in NAC play.

The doubles pairing of Murphy and Mikutowicz earned first team honors.  They amassed a 6-7 overall mark, however they posted a 4-2 conference record, all of which came out of the number one doubles spot. 

Sfakianaki teamed with Emily Deaso, another freshman, all season long.  The duo were regulars in the second doubles pairing and amassed an 8-5 record together.  They went 4-2 in conference play.

The Trailblazers have earned the third seed in this weekend's NAC Championships and will face Castleton tomorrow at 10am.
