MCLA bests Lyndon State 7-2 in NAC opener
Bennington, VT- The MCLA Women's Tennis team swept the doubles matches as they cruised past the Lyndon State Hornets in the NAC opener 7-2 this evening at the Bennington Tennis Center. With the win, the Trailblazers are now 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in the conference. Lyndon State is still in search of their first win.
MCLA rolled through the doubles matches as Emily Deaso and Mariza Sfakianaki won 8-3 in the top spot. First year players Brianna Higgins and Sarah Hachadourian also took a point in the second doubles slot also by a 8-3 margin. The final point was claimed by Sam Gawron and Anna Despart who cruised to an 8-0 victory.
In singles, all of the matches were played to pro style sets to eight. Lyndon took the top singles point as Nichole Jones defeated Sfakianaki in a nail biter 8-7. Deaso would respond and earn her first point claiming an 8-1 in the second slot.
Alexa Richard earned the last point for Lyndon out of the third spot with an 8-2 win over Despart, but MCLA would claim the final three matches all by identical 8-0 scores.
The Trailblazers continue NAC play on Saturday when they travel to Green Mountain for a match.
