Tennis preps for NAC Championships with 6-3 win over NVU-Johnson

Bennington, VT- The MCLA Women's Tennis team capped off their regular season with a 6-3 win over Northern Vermont University-Johnson this afternoon in a match held at the Bennington Tennis Center.  With the win, the Trailblazers end the regular season at 6-4 and will be the third seed in the NAC playoffs this weekend.  They'll challenge second seeded Lesley at 9am on Sunday.

Johnson is now 2-10 overall.

MCLA took two of the three singles matchups to snag the early lead.  Briana Higgins and Mackenna Jordan won 8-3 in the top doubles slot for the first point while Jessica Dupont and Alyssa Keegan took the second matchup 8-5.  Johnson would salvage a point in the third doubles slot to make it 2-1 heading to singles play.

Grace Page (NVUJ) defeated Dupont in the top singles slot but MCLA would take slots 2-5 to close out the scoring.  Higgins cruised for her second point in the second singles slot while Jordan did the same in the third.  McKenna Clark and Alyssa Keegan earned singles points to round out the scoring for MCLA.

The Badgers Katelyn Tirrito claimed a point in the sixth singles slot to close the scoring.
