MCLA nets first win at Castleton
Castleton, VT- The MCLA Volleyball team broke into the win column with a four set victory over Castleton State Tuesday night. The Trailblazers rallied to win the final three sets after dropping the opener. With the win, MCLA is now 1-7 while Castleton drops to 2-4 overall.
Julia Christian led the Trailblazers with 16 kills. Brittany Kish finished with 23 assists, while Courtney Parent added 12 assists and 5 aces in the win.
MCLA led in the opening set 19-15 before Castleton rallied, taking ten of the next 12 points to pick up the set victory. The Trailblazers would respond though, taking game two easily at 25-16.
The turning point in the match, however, came in set three. With the score tied at 16, MCLA would rattle off three straight points as Christian added a kill and an assist in the spurt. The Trailblazers would continue to push and eventually earn a 25-19 set win.
MCLA would quickly jump out to a commanding 13-7 lead midway through the fourth set before cruising to a 25-17 win to close out the match.
The Trailblazers will look to build off the victory on Saturday when they host a tri match with Becker and Green Mountain beginning at 11am.
