Trailblazers top Hawks in 3-1 Victory

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Volleyball team won their first match of the afternoon in a four set victory over the Becker College Hawks. The Trailblazers rallied to win the final three sets after dropping the first. MCLA improves to 2-7 on the season while Becker drops to 0-8.

The Tri-Match continues when Becker looks to rebound against the Green Mountain Eagles at 1:00 PM.

The Hawks got out the early lead when they won game one behind the kills of Senior Theresa Boulier and Junior Katelyn Burns, who both had 5 kills. Most of the Hawks kills on the day came off assists from Senior Joanna Slomiak, who finished with 10 assists.

The Trailblazers came alive late in the second game, getting on a good run where Sophomore Angelica Perfido got 3 aces and Junior Julia Christian had 7 kills to take the game 25-19.

The hot streak continued in game three when the Trailblazers went on a 9-0 run behind the service of Junior Kendra Hobbs, who served 5 straight aces for her team. Later in the game teammate Brittany Kish got 3 aces of her own to take the game 25-6 in impressive fashion.

The fourth and final game was back and forth until once again Hobbs stepped up and served 4 more aces. Christian finished the match with an impressive stat line of 19 kills on 32 total attempts with 1 error. The fourth game ended 25-11 in the Trailblazers favor.

MCLA will look to continue its hot streak later this afternoon vs. Green Mountain at 3:00 PM.
