Trailblazer streak snapped after falling to Gators in five sets
North Adams, MA- The MCLA Trailblazers (3-8) had their three match winning streak snapped as they fell to the visiting Gators of Sage College (11-2) in five sets.
The Trailblazers started out hot in game 1 winning 26-24 behind a strong performance by Darien Quick's three kills on seven attempts.
Visiting Sage came alive in the second game behind a strong team effort, using an 11-1 run to take control. Games three and four were split sending the match to game five. Sophomore Brittany Kish created a spark with back to back aces to help her team capture the win in game three.
The Trailblazers fell 15-13 in the final set, which was a back and fourth high energy match where both teams had impressive volleys.
Junior Kelley Bryant led MCLA with 26 digs on the defensive end while teammate Julia Christian had 9 kills, 10 blocks and 6 digs.
For Sage, Sophomore Helen Putriment finished the match with 16 kills while junior teammate Joanie Cooney finished with 44 assists.
