Volleyball drops MASCAC tilt at Bridgewater State 3-0

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The MCLA Volleyball team fell in three games to MASCAC foe Bridgewater State this afternoon in the Tinsley Center.  

Bridgewater won by scores of 25-19, 25-8 and 25-13 as the Bears evened their 2012 record to 5-5 with a 2-0 mark in the MASCAC.  MCLA falls to 3-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Freshman outside hitter Carolyn Morin (Marstons Mills, Mass.) paced the Bears with eight kills, two assisted blocks and four digs.  Junior setter Melanie Appleman (Hyannis, Mass.) added 20 assists, three kills, one ace and two blocks (one solo), while junior outside hitter Danielle Dean (Gilford, N.H.) registered six kills, eight digs and one ace.  Junior libero Kristen Robillard (Swansea, Mass.) chipped in with 12 digs and one ace.
 

The Bears had their best attacking match of the season recording just nine errors and a .256 hitting percentage.  Bridgewater also notched eight aces and seven team blocks.

Junior middle hitter Julia Christian (Cohoes, N.Y.) led the way for the Trailblazers with five kills and five digs.  Sophomore setter Brittany Kish (East Longmeadow, Mass.) added 12 assists and an ace.

In upcoming action, Bridgewater travels to MASCAC foe Mass. Maritime Academy on Wednesday night for a seven o'clock match with the Buccaneers.  MCLA hosts conference rival Framingham State University also on Wednesday at seven.
