Volleyball falls to Bridgewater in MASCAC quarterfinals 3-0
Bridgewater, MA- The third seeded Bridgewater State Bears recieved a match high nine kills from Sydney Bennett as they defeated the sixth seeded MCLA Trailblazers 3-0 this evening at the Tinsley Center in a MASCAC Volleyball quarterfinal.
With the win, the Bears move on to play second seeded Framingham State in a match to be held at Westfield State on Saturday. MCLA finishes its season at 10-19.
The Bears (16-17 overall) cruised as they defeated the Trailblazers for the second time in five days. Bridgewater posted set victories of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-16 to move on to the semifinals.
Bennett collected her nine kills on 21 attacks. Michelle Atkins and Danielle Dean chipped in with 6 kills respectively. Dean had a team best 8 digs. Melanie Appleman finished with 30 assists and 5 digs.
MCLA was paced by Julia Christian and Sam Anderson who each finished with 5 kills. Kendra Hobbs chipped in with 4 kills and 10 digs. Allie Chang added a match best 15 digs, while Courtney Parent had 14 assists.
The match was the final one in a Trailblazer uniform for both Hobbs and Christian.
