Sage Snaps Trailblazers Win Streak

Sage Snaps Trailblazers Win Streak

The MCLA Trailblazers dropped a 3-1 decision Tuesday Night at the Amsler campus center to the white hot Sage Gators. The Gators have now won eight straight and upped their record to 11-4 on the season.

The Trailblazers got off to a good start taking game one 25-22 behind the strong play of Sam Anderson and Darien Quick, as the duo combined for seven kills in the first game.

Game two was a tight affair, but Sage made the plays when they needed to pull out the game 26-24. Game two seemed to take the wind out of the Trailblazers sails as they were beat 25-7 in game three.

This was familiar territory however for MCLA, who have been the comeback kids of late, coming from 2-0 behind in their last two victories. However, the balanced Gators attack proved too tough tonight as they closed out game four and the match with a 25-17 victory.

Michayla Berard and Helen Putriment were key for the Gators in the pivotal game two. Berard had fourteen kills on the night and Putriment added ten. Rachel Liebig had thirty-three assists.

Anderson led MCLA with eleven kills and Rachel Mills added nine, as the team struggled at the net, ending the evening with thirty attack errors. Margaret Allen also chipped in with six kills.

Courtney Parent added nineteen assists, while Allie Chang contributed twenty-two digs.

Sage will participate in the Skidmore Invitational this weekend and MCLA opens up conference play this Saturday at home versus Worcester State at 1:00.
