Owls best Trailblazers 3-1 in MASCAC Volleyball tilt

WESTFIELD, Mass.  – Senior outside hitter Kendyl Haney (Ashland/Ashland, Mass.) registered 13 kills to lead Westfield to a 3-1 win over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in a MASCAC women's volleyball game at the Woodward Center on Wednesday night.

The Owls won their fourth straight match to improve to 11-17 and 4-1 in the MASCAC.

Westfield rallied to win three straight games after losing the first set, with scores of  21-15, 25-19, 25- 23, and 25- 20.

Freshman setter Courtney Ryan (Quincy/Quincy, Mass.) totaled 38 assists and served four aces for the Owls.  Freshman Victoria Sutphen (Wachussett/Holden, Mass) added 11 kills and two aces, with senior middle hitter Nicole Molleur (Tantasqua/Union, Ky.) adding seven kills and seven blocks.

Senior libero Sarah Green (Bishop Fenwick/Peabody, Mass.) led Westfield's defensive effort with 18 digs.

Junior setter Courtney Parent (Frontier/Deerfield, Mass.) handed out 26 assists for the Trailblazers..  Senior defensive specialist Allie Chang (Northport/Northport, NY) came up with 22 digs and Rachel Mills (Monroe/Highland Mills, NY) led their hitters with 12 kills

Westfield will be back in action on Friday at Smith College for the Hall of Fame Invitational.

MCLA falls to 13-10, 2-3 in the MASCAC. The Trailblazers next play at SUNY Cobleskill on Friday night.
