Trailblazers fall to Rams in MASCAC Championship game 3-0

Framingham, MA- Led by tournament MVP Alycia Rackliffe, the top seeded Framingham State Rams defeated the third seeded MCLA Trailblazers 3-0 this afternoon in the MASCAC Tournament Championship game.  The tournament championship marks the third straight for the Rams and Rackliffe as they improve to 23-11.  

The Rams earn the MASCAC's automatic bid into the NCAA tournament and will await their seeding on Monday.  The Trailblazers saw a seven match winning streak snapped and end their season at 17-14.

The Rams took the opening set 25-18 after MCLA rallied to tie it at 17-17.  They would cruise in the second set 25-11 and then win the title by virtue of a 25-16 win in the third set.

MCLA had no answer for Rackliffe throughtout the match.  The Framingham senior would end the day with game best 16 kills and added 7 digs and 4 assists.  The two time reigning MASCAC player of the year also took the tournament MVP honor the last two seasons.

Julia Wan added 7 kills for Framingham State while Mackenzie Whalen collected 29 assists in the match.  She would complete the double double with 11 digs.  Deirdre Fay also ended with 11 digs for the Rams.

MCLA was paced Allison Clark who ended the game with 8 kills and 12 digs, both team highs.  Maggie Allen added 6 kills while Sam Anderson and Rebecca Godbout ended with 5.  Taylor Wiese had 14 assists while Michelle Laga matched Clark with 12 digs.

The match marked the final one in the careers for Clark and Anderson.  Clark ended her career with 803 kills in just two seasons and is the all time record holder.  Anderson will rank among the best blockers in school history.  The duo led the Trailblazers to the conference finals in each of the last two seasons.  Prior to that, MCLA had never advanced to the finals.
