Volleyball pulls away from Cobleskill 3-1

North Adams, MA- After a sluggish start, the MCLA Volleyball team pulled away from visiting Cobleskill defeating the Fighting Tigers 3-1 in the Amsler Campus Center Gym.  With the win, the Trailblazers improve to 9-17 on the season while Cobleskill falls to 8-15 overall.

The Fighting Tigers took it to the Trailblazers in the opening set cruising to a 25-19 victory.  The second set was tight throughout until MCLA pulled away late to even things up with a 25-18 set win knotting it at 1-1.  From there, MCLA took over winning the crucial third set 25-12 and rolling 25-7 in the clinching fourth.

Sara LaFreniere was outstanding for MCLA collecting a match best 12 kills on 28 attacks.  She added 8 digs and 2 aces.  Brooke Queripel added 10 kills on 31 attacks for MCLA.  She added 6 digs.  Setting up the offense all night were Natasha Stewart and Taylor Wiese.  They had 26 and 16 assists respectively in a winning effort.  Stewart notched a double double with 19 digs for MCLA.  Wiese added 8 as well.  Mele Enomoto collected 19 digs and 3 aces to spear head the defense.  

MCLA hit a solid .270 in the match committing just 13 attack errors in the contest.

For Cobleskill, they were led by Emily Potter's 8 kills and 15 digs, both team highs.  Kendra Webb and Dani Webb each notched 14 digs in a losing effort while Mackenzie Holbert added 12 digs and 16 assists.  The Fighting Tigers committed 22 errors on the night and hit just .029 for the match.

The Trailblazers close out the regular season on Saturday with a rare doubleheader with Mass. Maritime beginning at 1pm.
