Volleyball's Enomoto named All MASCAC

2017 All MASCAC Volleyball Team

North Adams, MA- MCLA senior Mele Enomoto has been named All MASCAC the conference announced this afternoon.  The honor marks the first for Enomoto during her time at MCLA.  The defensive specialist from Wailuku, HI led the team in digs as a senior.

Amari King of Worcester State has been named the 2017 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Year and headlines the All-Conference team which is voted on by the eight coaches from around the conference.
 
King, a junior outside hitter from Lawrence, Mass., led the Lancers to a perfect 7-0 mark during conference play and the top seed in the MASCAC Tournament. She closed out the regular season leading the conference in several statistical categories, including total kills (394), kills per set (3.58), total points (458) and points per set (4.2) She also had the second-best hitting percentage (.257) and fourth-most service aces (52). Her best game of the season came against Eastern Nazarene where she tallied 23 kills and 18 digs in the win. She has earned MASCAC Volleyball Player of the Week honors five times this season, including four straight week from October 2nd to October 23rd.
 
In her first season with Framingham State, outside hitter Kelly Brinkman has been named the 2017 MASCAC Volleyball Rookie of the Year. The freshman from Gardiner, N.Y. finished the regular season with 215 kills, 2.72 per set with 19 total blocks, 57 digs and four service aces. She had a season-best 18 kills in the victory over MCLA in league action. She was named the MASCAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week four times during her freshman campaign.
 
For leading his team to the MASCAC Regular Season Title and a 24-8 overall record, Bernie Chase of Worcester State was named the 2017 Champion's Choice Volleyball Coach of the Year as voted on by his peers.
 
Enomoto was fourth in the league with digs recording 414 this season.  Back in September, she became a member of the grand club by notching her 1,000th dig in a match against Williams.  She was also second on the team posting 28 aces as a senior.  She posted a season best 29 digs in a win over Salem State.
 
Joining King and Brinkman on the All-Conference First Team are Mackenzie Whalen of Framingham State, Lizzie Taylor of Westfield State and Emily Carens, Megan Leavens and Allie Nolan of Worcester State.
 
Earning a spot on the MASCAC Second Team All-Conference are Cassidy Tyros of Bridgewater State, Vicki Anderson of Framingham State, Mele Enomoto of MCLA, Marie Harrison of Massachusetts Maritime and Mackenzie Salls of Salem State, Natasha Belardo and Brianna Starkey of Westfield State.
