Volleyball swept by Salem State and St. Joseph (CT) on the road

Salem, MA- Salem State received 8 kills and 12 digs from Emily Hennessy en route to a 3-0 victory over the MCLA Trailblazers in MASCAC action this afternoon.  The Vikings improve to 7-4 overall and are now 2-0 in the league.  MCLA drops to 6-6 and sits at 0-2 in the league.

The Vikings cruised in this one winning the first set 25-18.  They would close out MCLA 25-10 and 25-19 to secure the win.

Hennessy notched her 8 kills on 22 attacks.  She also added two aces.  Danielle Joseph collected 5 kills for the Vikings. Morgan Adams ended the day with a match best 23 assists.

Samantha Chaisson ended with 11 digs to pace the defense for Salem State.

For MCLA, Laiken Cornwell-L'Hote and Sara LaFreniere each ended with 4 kills.  Beatrice Lechler had 9 assists and 11 digs in the loss.

In the nightcap, the Trailblazers fell to St. Joseph (CT) 3-1.  The Blue Jays improve to 3-5 on the season while MCLA dips below .500 at 6-7.

The Blue Jays took the opening two sets 25-20 and 25-23 to take a 2-0 advantage.  MCLA stayed alive by earning a 25-19 third set victory.  USJ would close out the match in the fourth set winning 25-15.

USJ used 18 aces to their advantage and earn the win.

Sara LaFreniere led the team with 10 kills while Alyssa Keegan added 7.  Reagan Scattergood ended with 5 kills as did Ahna SchlaeferTessa Sestito collected 16 assists to lead the team.  Celine Manigbas and Sestito notched 13 and 10 digs respectively.

USJ was paced by Torrie Epps, Nina Lestrud, and Hannah Benson who each had 9 kills in the win.  Brenna Miller set up the offense to the tune of 29 assists.  Janell Molina added a team best 19 digs while Miller chipped in with 12.

MCLA is back in action on Wednesday when they host Worcester State in MASCAC action.
