Volleyball drops a pair of non league tilts on the road

Newton, MA- The MCLA Volleyball dropped a pair of matches this afternoon falling to Simmons College 3-0 in the opener before suffering a 3-1 defeat to host Lasell College in non league action.  The Trailblazers fall to 7-16 overall on the season with the setbacks.

Game 1-

In the opener against the Sharks, the Trailblazers fell by scores of 25-11, 29-27, and 25-20.  

Reagan Scattergood paced the Trailblazers with six kills in the opener while Tessa Sestito notched 13 assists.  The Trailblazers were hampered offensively with 16 attack errors and an additional 8 service errors.

Celine Manigbas collected 15 digs to lead the defensive effort.

For the Sharks, they were paced by Krissy Lloyd's game high 10 kills.  Riley Roberge added 9 kills.  Simmons' Kenna McCarthy and Faith Gray-Williams ended with 18 and 12 kills respectively.  Julia Fusco ended with 16 digs in the win.

Game 2-

Lasell took the opening set 25-17 before dropping a 26-24 decision in the second.  They would close out MCLA though with a 25-17 and 25-19 wins in the third and fourth sets to earn the win.

Ahna Schlaefer and Alyssa Keegan each had a great afternoon match with 11 kills each.  Tessa Sestito dished out 31 assists for MCLA.  The Trailblazers had three players record double digit digs as Natasha Stewart, Manigbas, and Sara LaFreniere ended with 15, 14, and 10 respectively.

Lasell was paced offensively by Kiana Perez and Olivia Addington.  They each had 12 kills on the attack while Meg Carroll ended with 11.  Jess Langan collected 39 assists.

The Trailblazers are back in action on Tuesday when they head to Cobleskill for another non conference matchup with the Fighting Tigers.
