Moczulski named MASCAC Rookie of the Year

North Adams, MA- MCLA first year outside hitter Kelly Moczulski (New River, AZ) has been tabbed the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletics Conference (MASCAC) rookie of the year.  Moczulski had a stranglehold on the weekly rookie honors after collecting it nine straight weeks.  Moczulski is the first Trailblazer to earn the award.

Brandee Thomas of Framingham State was selected as the Player of the Year while Westfield's Fred Glanville earned Coach of the Year honors.

Moczulski ended the season second in the conference in Kills with 289.  Her single season total puts her third on the single season leaders at MCLA.  Moczulski currently ranks eighth in digs and is tied atop the league standings with 61 aces.

From September 9th thru November 4th she earned the conferences top rookie weekly honor.  Twice during that time frame, she swept the major awards and added Player of the Week to her resume.  Behind Moczulski, MCLA ended the season at 19-11 and advanced into the MASCAC semifinal round.  The 19 wins were the second most in school history trailing only the 2015 squad's 24 win season.

Moczulski was joined on the All Conference team with fellow Trailblazers Reagan Scattergood, Natasha Stewart, and Tessa Sestito.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's first Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC core member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013.
