Volleyball Pulls Away in Final Set to Down Cobleskill
Keuka Park, NY- Chloie Garber and Elizabeth Brown led the charge today as the MCLA Women's Volleyball team took down SUNY Cobleskill in five sets in their season opening match on the campus of Keuka College.
The teams would split the first two sets with identical 25-21 scores with neither team leading by more than four points as the Trailblazers won the first and the Fighting Tigers taking the second.
After a Beth Harris ace gave MCLA a 3-2 lead in the third, MCLA would not trail again in the set. Two more aces by Shannon O'Brien put the Trailblazers up 23-17 and MCLA would win the set 25-18 taking a 2-1 advantage.
Though MCLA would catch Cobleskill late in the fourth following a pair of points on Anais Badio's serve, this time it was the Fighting Tigers that went wire to wire never trailing, taking the set 26-24 to level the match.
In the fifth it was all MCLA and all Brown as the sophomore closed out the match on her serve with a 13-0 run that included five aces. Kills by Garber and Aubrey Melson would bookend the dominant run and give MCLA a 15-2 set win and the 3-2 match victory.
