Bio
Amanda Beckwith '03 was hired as the MCLA Women’s Volleyball Coach in January 2006. During her tenure, she became the winningest volleyball coach in MCLA history with 231 victories. In 2023, the Trailblazers finished 21-5 and hosted the MASCAC Tournament Final.
Beckwith’s teams have earned a spot in the MASCAC post-season Tournament in 14 out of the 18 years she has coached, with the best finish in 2015 and 2023 when the team made it to the MASCAC Championship. She has coached 24 All-Conference Players and several players who have earned top 20 NCAA Division III statistics, including Courtney Parent, who finished the 2014 season 1st in Aces per Set. She also has coached all 11 players in Trailblazer history who have earned the honor of being in the “Grand” Club (1,000 digs, assists, or kills).
The 2015 season was the best in school history. MCLA recorded 24 victories (the most in program history), won a MASCAC regular-season Championship, and had a 13-game win streak. Also, at the end of this record year, Beckwith was recognized by her peers and awarded both the ECAC and MASCAC Coach of the Year.
As a coach, Beckwith has attended the NCAA Division III Leadership Conference (2010), the NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy (2011), and the Women Leaders in College Sports (formerly NACWAA) Conference (2015). She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, the New England Volleyball Association, and the American Volleyball Coaches Association. She has served on both the NCAA and NEWVA Volleyball Committees and is a Certified Program Administrator in Safe Zone Training.
Beckwith graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology with a concentration in Sports Medicine and is a Certified Athletic Trainer. Upon graduating from MCLA in 2003, she worked for an all-girls independent high school, Miss Hall’s School, in Pittsfield, MA. Beckwith was a three-season coach, dorm resident, and Associate Director of Horizons (community service experiential learning program) there. At MCLA as a student, Beckwith was a 2-time MVP and All-Conference Player. Beckwith earned her Master’s in Education in 2013, also from MCLA.
In addition to coaching, Beckwith is employed full-time at MCLA in the Athletics Department. She serves as the SAAC (Student Athlete Advisor Committee). Coach Beckwith resides in North Adams, Massachusetts.
