Bio

Amanda Beckwith '03 was hired as the MCLA Women’s Volleyball Coach in January of 2006. During her tenure, she became the winningest volleyball coach in MCLA history with 182 victories. In 2014 the Trailblazers earned first ever ECAC Tournament birth and in 2015 they advanced to the ECAC finals.

Beckwith’s teams have earned a spot in post-season MASCAC Tournament, 9 out of the 11 years she has coached with the best finish in 2015 when the team made it to MASCAC Championship. She has coached 15 All-Conference Players and several players who have earned top 20 NCAA Division III statistics, including Courtney Parent, who finished the 2014 season 1st in Aces per Set. She also has coached all 7 players in Trailblazer history who have earned the honor of being in the “Grand” Club (1,000 digs, assists, or kills).

The 2015 season was the best in school history, where MCLA recorded 24 victories (most in program history), won a MASCAC regular season Championship and had a 13 game win streak. Also at the end of this record year, Beckwith was recognized by her peers and awarded both the ECAC and MASCAC Coach of the Year.

As a coach, Beckwith has attended the NCAA Division III Leadership Conference (2010), the NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy (2011), and the Women Leaders in College Sports (formerly NACWAA) Conference (2015). She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, the New England Volleyball Association, and American Volleyball Coaches Association. She has served on both the NCAA and NEWVA Volleyball Committees and is Certified Program Administrator in Mentor in Violence Prevention (MVP).

Beckwith graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology with a concentration in Sports Medicine and is a Certified Athletic Trainer. Upon graduation from MCLA in 2003, she worked for an all-girls independent high school, Miss Hall’s School, located in Pittsfield, MA. There, Beckwith was a three season coach, dorm resident, and Associate Director of Horizons (community service experiential learning program). At MCLA as a student, Beckwith was a 2-time MVP and All-Conference Player. Beckwith earned her Master’s in Education in 2013 also from MCLA.

In addition to coaching Beckwith is employed full-time at MCLA in the Athletics Department.  She serves as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coordinator as well as Assistant Academic Coordinator.  Coach Beckwith resides in Petersburgh, New York.
