Trailblazers Finish 7th at Elms Invitational

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The MCLA Men and Women Cross Country teams kicked off the 2010 season today at the Elms Invitational, with both teams showing solid gains already on 2009.

The University of New England (UNE) had three runners finish in the top five in the women's race to help pace their respective teams to victory in Saturday afternoon's Blazers Invitational cross country event at Chicopee Memorial State Park.

In the women's 5-kilometer race, UNE scored a total of 25 points to capture first place honors, MCLA finished seventh with a 172 points, the women's race had sixteen teams competing.

AIC's MJ Ohoueu (Paris, France) secured top individual honors for the women running to a time of 19:50. MCLA's Xhirley Gonzalez was the top Trailblazer across the line finishing twenty-sixth overall in a time of 23:29. Haley Amenta was next for MCLA finishing twenty-eighth and Caitlin Culver was the third Trailblazer to finish, finishing thirtieth with a time of 24:05.
