Bio

Mike Gladu was hired in October 2015 to lead the MCLA Baseball program.

Before being hired at MCLA, Gladu served as the assistant coach at Williams College from 2010-2014. As the assistant, Gladu was primarily responsible for working with the pitching staff, evaluating players and coaching 1st base. Previous to his tenure at Williams, Gladu worked with area High School and American Legion aged players as well as managing an 18U baseball travel team for 3 Seasons.

“We are excited to bring Coach Gladu on board to lead our trailblazer baseball program. Mike is widely known and respected in the baseball community. His energy and enthusiasm mixed with his focus on player development will help elevate our program to the next level,” Mooney said.

Gladu is a native of Cheshire, Ma. who played collegiately at Division II American International College in Springfield, Ma. Following his collegiate career, he was signed by the Chicago Cubs. He spent 2 seasons in professional baseball. His first assignment landed him in Appalachian League with the Wytheville Cubs. The following year he was assigned to the Peoria Chiefs in the Mid-West League.

In 2016, Gladu was inducted into the UNICO Baseball/Softball Hall of Fame. In 2017, Gladu was tabbed as the MASCAC Baseball coach of the year, guiding the Trailblazers to their first conference playoff appearance since 2009.

As a Hoosac Valley High School student, Gladu was an All-Western Massachusetts selection his senior year when he was a pitcher for the Hurricanes’ baseball team.
