Absorption of Alcohol

Absorption of Alcohol
  • Alcohol is a toxin that is absorbed into your bloodstream and will travel to every organ in your body, including your brain.

  • Space your drinks; drink a non-alcoholic beverage before consuming alcohol & one glass of water per drink consumed.

  • Drinking water dilutes alcohol, slowing down the amount of alcohol that is absorbed at one time.

  • Eating food before or during drinking decreases the rate of absorption of alcohol.

  • Carbonated drinks increase the rate of alcohol absorption.

  • Acetaminophen is metabolized by the liver, and when combined with alcohol, can cause liver damage.
