Meczywor, Slattery take home top honors at Annual MCLA Athletics Banquet
Softball's Amanda Meczywor and Baseball's Rory Slattery took home the top Female and Male Scholar Athlete awards at last night's MCLA Athletics Banquet
North Adams, MA- The MCLA Athletics department held their annual end of the banquet last night in the Amsler Campus Center Gym. The evening was highlighted by Amanda Meczywor (softball) and Rory Slattery (baseball), who claimed the Sue Getchell and Louis Parisien Awards respectively, as the top female and male scholar athletes in the department.
Many awards were given out on the night including team MVP's, academic scholars, directors awards, and many more. The evening was culminated by MCLA Interim President Cindy Brown asking members of the the recently crowned MASCAC champion softball program to raise a banner into the rafters. The event also featured a highlight video and senior comments from the student athletes.
The Getchell and Parisien awards are handed out to the upper class athletes who demonstrate excellence in the classroom and on the playing fields. Both recipients were members of the Dean's List, MASCAC All Academic Team, All MASCAC teams, team captains, and leaders on campus.
