Women’s Hockey Take Some Lumps, Falls to Wilkes University 6-0

WILKES, Penn. – In the first game in program history, the MCLA Women's Hockey team was overwhelmed by the more experienced team from Wilkes University, dropping the opener 6-0 at the Toyota SportsPlex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wilkes put their first point of the season on the scoreboard in the 15th minute when Rissa Brazeau lit the lap with assists from Anneke Bouman and Bella Kaczorowski.
- Barely 4 minutes later, Rachel Morey scored with the assist credited to Julie Paterson.
- The score remained that way until the 17th minute of the second period when Elizabeth Spoon fed the goal with a helper from Sabrina Kotlarczyk.
- Wilkes would add three more goals in the third period. The goal scorers were Tilly Wierdsma (assist to Haylee Bouchard), Milica Velcek (Kaczorowski), and on the power play by Amanda Spreadbury (Bouchard and Morey).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Juliette Barney recorded 46 saves in the losing effort, stopping 12, 14, and 20 shots across the three periods.
- Alexandrea Bednar and Graci McGee both put their bodies on the line in front of Barney, blocking three shots apiece, while Nessa Nalette had two blocks.
- The Colonels had a 45-12 edge in faceoff wins. Rebekah Ade won five faceoffs, while Katie Pica added five.
